Speedometer going up from revving engine???

Speedometer going up from revving engine???

I noticed when I revved at my friends car today that the speedometer shot up to 20mph or so? What the hell is with that? Id love to know

I asked the same thing a few years ago. Everyone said their cars do it, some more than others. I wouldnt worry about it.

That really shouldnt happen. You arent going anywhere so its natural that the speedo stays at 0 or at least logical. Mine doesnt do it but I'm kind of interested in why this happens.

I always thought that was strange also. Mine never jumped to 20mph though maybe 5mph.

Could have alot to do with how the needle(s) move (windings,magnet,?) and their distance from each other.

The vehicle speed data is relayed from the Transmission to the Cluster via speedo cable in the tranny. Only logical answer is the neutral reving is causing your speedometer gear to spin.

is the car stick or auto? i would think that its some sort of problem w/ the trans or the clutch if its stick.. just my .02
