K thanks, man i really dont want a governor on the car lol, any ideas how to take it off, and also how much of a hassle it is to replace the speedometer, i dont know why it wasnt ordered with z rated tires then, i think no matter what tires it came with it shoudl have had the 150 or 160 speedometer in it...

Jeremy ur right about the tires:

PEG2 (150mph speedometer, GS-C Z-rated tires)

Thats the option the buyer obviously didnt get.

Whats the difference between tires...the Z-rated and the ones that were put on it?

It's really easy to switch out the speedometers. I also had the same thing on my car-a Trans Am with the 115 gauge. I got lucky and bought one from somewhere on here who changed the miles for me before he shipped it so the miles on the new cluster matched how many are on my car. Then all you do is take a few bolts out and the new gauge is in-took me about 15 minutes.

I got rid of my top speed limiter using a Hypertech Power Programer III. My 94 has the 115 speedo and wouldn't go over 106mph till I reprogrammed it. LT1Edit and the other programming software that plugs into car PCM through the diagnostic port is a better way to go if you're going to play with tuning a lot like I want to. The HPP III is pretty limited in what you can tweak but it lets you program for gear and tire size changes, elevate top speed limiter to 184mph (like that'll get used ), auto shift points and rev limiter, fan on/off temps, etc. I'm happy with the results of mine but wish I'd spent the bucks on more tunable software and a diag port connector

How often do you plan on running over 115mph? Or do you just want a 150mph speedo overlay to show off?

Well good point, i prolly wont be goin over 115 that much, in the past i wanted to see how fast my last one woudl go, nah i really dont care about the speeodmeter appearance, everybody in this area has queer rice cars that are slow and they think they are cool cause it has a 130 speedo in it... i just wanted the 150 in it for the heck of it... so if u get the option with the 150 speedo it doesnt have a governor on it?

It's just plain rediculous that some people actually ordered these cars that way.

Did they want a Z28 or a Z24? Maybe they were confused...

I'd swap it out even if you don't plan to cross 115. It's just an embarassment to have someone peek in the window of a Z28 to see that the speedo on their Tercel goes higher!

Now that I'm thinking about it, if I want the white face guage panel, I'm going to have to replace my speedo with a 150mph version to get it to read right. It does suck to have one of the few Zs with the 115 speedo. It had the salad shooter wheels and Goodyear GS-Cs on it when I bought it, didn't know most had a 150mph speedo 'till later.

Salad shooter Firebird wheels?!?!? Awww that's awful man! My heart goes out to you for tolerating the ugliest wheels known to man.

These are the ten spoke 16"x8" cast aluminum wheels most stock early 4th-gen Camaros I see have. I heard the term salad shooters somewhere and thought my wheels sure looked like salad shooter blades. I may be using the wrong term for mine? I always thought the SSs, 'Birds and T/As had much cooler 5-spoke wheels but I got the wide ZR-1 Vette rims with the f-bod backspacing to be a little bolder and needed more traction.
