Are speed pro forged pistons pretty good?

When its time to rebuild I plan on putting a 383 crank in with forged pistons and a cc306 cam, and run nitrous eventually. Anyone use speed pro pistons before?

I've used them and have no complaints. They are strong and have never left me down.

I'd rather run a nicer hypereutectic that's lighter than a mediocre "forged" piston... unless you're spraying ALOT.. in which case I'd put up the $ for a nice set from someone with your specific app. in mind.

i've got speed pro 11.9 compression pistons in my 355...no complaints... is yours a gonna be a daily driver? because unless you spend A LOT of money, buying light pistons cant really handle the stress of daily driving, with the a/c runnin...

yeah, they make light pistons that can handle lots of stress, but they'll also cost you lots of money...
speed pro is a little heavier than top of the line, but they're rather durable.

how much are u spraying

if i had it to do agian, keith blacks.

Instead i got forged pistons and spent a lot of money. so be it, now i'll spray a lot when i decide to, but for now they are wasted money. i wouldn't hesitate to spray a 125 shot on a good hyperutetic piston...

i got flamed for saying it last time
thats my opinion though

and damn flood controll

phil beat me to it...

now i'm really confused...

normal driving? like WOT down the strip right?

your a/c turns off at 75% throttle...so what difference does it make?

I'll probly spray 150-200. It wont be a daily driver at that point.

I would skip the budget minded pistons and go with a forging specifically built (ring groove positioning) for nitrous. Bill Miller, CP, JE, Ross, etc..

Take care

sorry for the confusion, trey. i'll break it down...my original point was that speed pro's are not as light as some other pistons, but they're durable and ideal for a muscle car that's daily driven. that's why i asked him if his will be a daily driver...my a/c comment was supposed to insinuate the "daily use" of it...perhaps it was not the bet example of daily use....oh well...

in my sarcastic and comical reply,
i was implying that i am an agressive driver and exadurated this by stating that normal drivng for me is WOT

Ya I've used them. They are the best deal out there if you ask me. Very strong, virtually bullet proof.
