Speaking of gas mileage....strokers in here.

Putting in my motor and wanted to know what kinda gas mileage I should expect with the stroker. I know its kind of an open question, but I just wanted estimates.

Before having my 396 stroker dynotuned, I was getting less than 8 mpg (speedo not working yet, so I estimated miles driven)
After dynotune, it's better, but I haven't gotten any numbers yet. I will have some later tonight after I refill, but I can tell its at least a little better.
It will depend a lot on your cam, programming, gearing, trans, etc.
I have a very high loss drivetrain and big cam, so mine may represent a worst case scenario.

No kidding. Before tuning, I went through 3 tanks of gas in a little over a week and the car, and me, always smelled like gas.
TH400s with a high stall TC (~4000) coupled with a 4.10 rear really eats power. If you still have an OD trans and 3.23 rear, you should be much better off than I am. I'm planning on putting a 3.42 rear in mine so that I can drive on the highway without it sounding like a constant buzzsaw.

I have a 383 with 50# injectors, Boost and a 3000 stall, I currently get about 14 MPH in City driving and about 18 on the Highway. It could be better but it could be a lot worse and I am happy with it. See link in sig for full details on what else I have done.

Thx,
Claude

I get an average of 16 mpg (383-xe236/242)

Never had the discipline to hold it steady on the highway for very long; until, the other day coming home from the track, I got 22.22 mpg I couldn't believe it did so well. That was driving 100 miles between 70-80 mph and not stepping on it.

Not too shabby at all. I was hoping to get somewheres around there. I'd be okay with that.

Seems I remember a guy on the board that had a 383, self programmed (I think) and got amazing mileage. I think it might have been Jeff C / username NVMYZ28 http://www.nvmyz28.com/ .

supercharged 396 all forged at 9.25 CR with 72#/hr injectors and 3.73 dyno tuned

I see about 14 mpg on the street and 18 mpg on the freeway as well.

Damn Hugh....with all that I would figure you'd get like 7 MPG.

It's all about the tuning. Jeff ( www.acceleronics.com ) helped dyno tuned the car. At off WOT, it is still running slightly rich and could be further tune part throttle.

cheers

383 with Comp 305 cam, 1.6RRS (.544 lift w/rockers), 32# Fuel injectors, Edelbrock Shorty Headers, K&N Cai, Hooker catback, Dual cats & dyno tuned.

I was getting about 12-14 mpg city. Depending on how hard I drove it.

same as above except with Hooker long tubes, Stage 3 CNC/P&P'd heads and no cats without being retuned on dyno.

I just got about 17mpg city on my first tank of gas since the mods. This was with aggressive driving.

I drive all city so I have no idea on Highway mileage.
