Yes you read that right.

Engine was missing and I could hear some arcing and I was convinced it was the plug wires again.

I misted some water around the opti and saw sparks shooting from the opti cap right into the back of the water pump. There is also sparks shooting out from the ASP balancer in the area of the rubber ring. How the hell can this happen?

The opti I have is an Accel opti-spark plus that maybe that explains it all. It appears that the cap just does not have enough insulation to retain the high voltage. These pieces of crap have been on quality hold for months by Accel and they will take, gee I wonder why.

I am also running brand new AC Delco plugs gapped at .050" so I am not over gapped.

Right now I am trying to decide to get a MSD cap and rotor or just get a new GM opti.

Sounds like Accel sucks. I have not heard one good thing about their opti.

Deltec seems the way to go for quality, however I have had good luck with stock.

I would double check wires and make sure it is not coming from them at the opti area. Do you think DI-Electric grease might contain the spark some at the boots of the wires?

I did use the grease, I wonder if it adds resistance to the voltage?
