spark plugs harder on S10

Move this to the lounge if you wish but I thought I would share this with you LT1 guys who think our cars are hard to change plugs.

I can assure you that my 2000 S10 with the 4.3 Vortec believe it or not,,, is waaaayyyyy harder,,, stupid #3 plug is right behind where the steering shaft goes down to the steering box.

I moved the master cylinder out of the way, removed the breather, mass air flow sensor and air filter box just to make room to work. With the limited tools I cut a spark plug socket shorter as you cannot even get a full length one on the plug because of the steering shaft.

At least on the LT1 every plug is accessable.

I have a '96 Blazer (4.3 Vortech also) and the plugs weren't all that bad actually. I had to take out the fender wells to get to some of them, but other than that, it was easy. I did the plugs on my LT1 during the header install, so it was EASY.

What he said! Jack it up and go through the wheel wells.

99 Diamante. Intake manifold and all the crap attached to it have to come off to change plugs on rear bank.

I've got a 96 Blazer as well. Plugs are a piece of cake. They are all easily accessed through the wheel wells. The one behind the steering shaft isn't bad either if you know the trick. Put a spark plug socket on it, one with a hex head on the end, put a stubby wrench on the socket, and pry against the exhaust manifold. Easy.

manifold or steering shaft must be slightly different in the 4 years difference because I have been working on cars for 20 years and if it were a piece of cake I wouldn't be whining about it.

Yes plugs 1, 2, 4, 5, 6 are all a piece of cake.
