spark plugs?

spark plugs?
I know alot of us use NGK tr6's, 55's, Autolite 104's but can I just walk in to the local parts store and ask for auto lite 104's and they'll give me the correct thread count one for an LT1 ? same goes forthe NGK's, can i just ask for tr6's ? Or do i need more info?
