spark plugs for ~12:1 NA motor

i'm in need of changing these out within 2 days
(NGK or Autolite is what i'll be using)
what i would like too know is should i go too a colder plug with a tighter gap then stock? if so, what should i try gapping them too and how many steps colder on the plus?
part number or style

if not, should i use a stock heat range plug with a tighter gap?

thanks

Get 1 step colder than stock with a .035 gap.

Would the NGK tr6 be one step colder. I started out with tr55 and was getting curious as to the same question. I got 11.8:1 with the tight quench at .036 with absolutely no timing being pulled

I don't use NGK's so I don't know.Have them cross reference them to your stock plugs and see.
Whatever ya get gap them at .035 and take the load off of the opti.

Autolite 104's with a .035-.040 gap should work well.

A general rule of thumb is if your running over 400 fly wheel hp, 1 step colder will be ideal. I run NGK TR-6's I may check out the iridium plugs this winter and see hwo they go. Also keep in mind, what gap, spark advance, and fuel your running through the chamber can effect plug needes. Putting enough fuel in the mix may allow tr-55's

They claim the Iridium do just that. The electrode is like a needle and of course made out of Iridium. Performance wise I can't say but my gas mileage almost doubled when I switched from the tr55's.

Re: spark plugs for ~12:1 NA motor

i dont see what the big deal is about the iridium. the rest of the spark plug is made exactly the same. the tip is the only thing made of iridium. wouldnt that only make the plug last longer? i dont see how iridium changes the spark?

anyways...96ta, run at most a tr6 plug (or any heat range colder than stock plug). running the nitrous or high compression alone should make you want to run a step colder. i dont know of other colder plugs out there for our cars.

So TR6 is the coldest plug i can get? I would think i would need to drop down 2 with the big shot of spray on top of the 12:1?

i havent done enough research on our cars spark plug wise to know if they make a cooler plug. hopefully someone else can help you here. i would want to drop two heat ranges as well.
