Question Spark plug wire, miss question?

Would heat alone cause a wire to feel like a miss, but the ses light is NOT flashing? After getting my car back from engine and Jet Hot LT header install, the car starting running ruff, and missing. Turned out to be a burnt #6 wire near the boot. I got a new wire, and put that furnace tape around where the last wire burned, the tape that looks like aluminum foil, to keep it from burning again. Now, would just the heat cause a miss? I'm sure that metal tape gets pretty hot around the wire. Because my car is running ruff again after putting the new wire in, but the ses light isn't flashing like it was before when the wire was actually burnt. These are the factory wires in the stock location. Should I go with some new wires? Is there something else I can wrap them with? TIA

Shawn

Should I just take the metal tape off?

Re: Spark plug wire, miss question?

Heat causes resistance on wires which could cause miss. I have MAC headers on the Z and using stock Delco wires, I have them routed as far away from headers as possible with tie straps and not having any problems with them at this time.
