Spark Plug Question
I started changing my spark plugs on my 94 Z28 yesterday and it is pure hell let me tell you anyways my 2 questions are what does it mean when u have oil on the old plugs and does anybody have any tips on changing the 2 in the rear of the engine on the driver side. thanx
Re: Spark Plug Question
first, read the sticky about ttt abuse.
second, driver side is cake compared to the passenger side. i have fat arms and i just reached back there and got to em. I used a 3 inch extension i believe. Unless, maybe i used the 3 inch, a u-joint, and a 10 inch, but i dont exactly remember. either way, it was A LOT easier then the passegner side. I couldnt even do cylinder 8. I had to have a friend do it for me. god damn fat arms!

Re: Spark Plug Question
u need a 1/2 drive flexie-head ratchet and a 3" or so wable extension. Swivles are a pain in the *** unless it is an impact swivle. If u r not sure what a wable extension is , it is rounder where the socket attaches and the socket 'wables' when on. Actuall i think i used a 1/2" drive ratchet and adapted it down to 3/8" and the adapter gave me just the right length.
Re: Spark Plug Question
It's not a guarantee this is causing your oily plugs. After the car sits for a while (preferably overnight) and you start it up, does it blow a descent amount of smoke. If it does, then the valve guide seals are probably worn out. The smoking should go away after it burns the deposited oil. The valve guide seals are in the heads. You need a valve spring compressor to compress the springs to remove them to get at the seals. That is not the whole procedure, so if it is your problem, ask some other members first how to exactly remove them. I also think you need a way for the valve to stay up, so they don't fall down into the heads, then you will have bigger problems. So search or ask on how to remove the valve guide seals.
