Spark Plug #8 & Passenger Wires

I can't get to the #8 spark plug..... I tried from the top, Can't even get my hand in there..... Tried from the bottom but my stock y-pipe is in the @#$%ing way..... Is there anyway to get it out without taking off the y-pipe.......And to top it all off, I can't get my passenger side plug wires out..... The BOOTs get stuck between the power steering line & some other S]-[IT......
Who ever thought of routing the wires through there should be SHOT.....

ANY INFO. & TRICKS........
Would be really appreciated........

I read that changing the plugs & wires was a BEAR...... But I didn't think it was going to be that much of BITCH......And anybody who has MSD 8.5 LT1 wires.....Were did you run it through..... Cause by the looks of it, Its NOT going to fit through the stock location.....

ThanX......

You must have large hands and wrists. I can barely get in there.
I lie on top of the motor and reach down with a mini socket driver.
You can also jack the motor up a bit on the passenger side.

I got mine from the bottom and top. Just try to get someone to put the socket on from the bottom, then you put the wrench and a 3 inch extension on and ratchet it out. Good Luck.

Why not just take the y-pipe off? I did that to change my plugs and not only did it give me perfect access to the #8, but the #7 on the other side. Besides, gaskets are dirt cheap for the y-pipe. Just soak the bolts in some wd-40 or liquid wrench and use an impact, otherwise you might break them. It took my compressor about 3 cycles per bolt to get them off, but it sure was worth it with the access it gave me.

I couldn't get to mine either... I had to remove my starter to have it checked and it was easy to get to the #8 plug then.

This might help you with the p/s pump and routing the wires through that area

As for the #8 plug I was able to reach mine without removing anything from underneath. I was feeling around alot and I had to remove and install the plug without seeing where it was going.
Not fun, I will say if I had access to the right tools I would have removed my y pipe to get to it.

Removing the starter out from the trans lines was a pain in the a$$ on my automatic... As a last resort you may be able to do it by disconnecting the 2 connections then unbolting and dropping the starter and moving it out of the way... Luckily I needed to remove my starter anyways... I'm not a big guy by any means, but there was no way I could get my arms around that y-pipe to the plug, I don't know how the guys here do it... Good luck.

2,4,6 are all from top with various extensoins. 8 from top and bottom. 2 I needed to get on top of the engine intake to bend my arm right.
