Sound Clip of Stock vs Hooker Catback with MAC Midlength Headers!

First part is totally stock exhaust except for exhaust tips.

Second part is MAC midlength headers, single Carsound cat, Hooker catback. It is windy today, and it may effect the sound a little.

Sound Clip

Sounds impressive. When are you going to the track again?

Thanks. I wasn't really trying to get on it at all for those sound clips. I wanted to give a sound clip of more typical driving. The mic didn't quite pull out the depth of the new exhaust, but it's pretty close.

I'm guessing in about a month. I'd like to do it before the weather gets too hot. I've only been to the track once, but it was 86 degrees and 80% humidity. I was stock back then. Ran 14.4@98 with a 2.21 60'

I'm hoping to be over 100 mph and mid-high 13's in better weather.

You want me to let you know when I'm going to Stanton?

Dan

Yea, video cameras normally don't give the true sound, but it's still cool that we can see and hear all differnent types of exhaust systems on the internet.

I am sure you will be pleasantly surprised with your Z-28s performance at the track.

My car is still in storage. I haven't decided if I am even going to get it out this year or not. Things are really busy at my house right now. However, I am interested to hear how your car does at the track. So, keep me posted.

I didn't see your thread. Can you link me to it?

I didn't consider the '96-'97 headers because of the way the drivers side primaries are laid out.

There's nothing wrong with the 96-97 MAC design. My friend ran 11.3@120+ mph with a STOCK LT1 in a 97 Z28 M6 with boltons and a 125 shot. Not even RR's either...

With a 125 shot and boltons, I think any header is going to look like it performs well.

I'm not saying that the '96-'97 style sucks, but if you look at the primary design of the '94-'95 MAC headers, it is a straighter, longer path. Personally, I didn't want that blob of primaries on the drivers side that the '96-'97 style is like.

i saw a picture of the 95/97 no cats setup on the web. looked good. totally different header style. mac website does not have a picture of them. the odd thing was the ypipe did not route under the oil pan but looked like it went around the tranny. i became a little suspicious. wrote a thread about it and got no hits,so i emailed chris at jethot and he said they were the same as the headers with cats but without them(im not an english major) so anyway... anyone seen or know about these headers? chris was not sure about it either as he could only go by the picture from mac which only showed the ones with cats. go to proficient performance .com and click on camaro link you will see what i am talking about, the air hookups are weird. i think it may be a mistake. thx stereo man

that first drive by is the stock exhaust with manifolds, cats, and stock catback with different tips? for some reason i thought you had the catback on and then added headers not that long ago.

I'm pretty sure he did them all at once

That does sound nice though. I'm not even quite sure what my car sounds like from outside the cabin anymore... I'll have a friend drive it for me tomorrow so I can compare.
maybe

Yeah, it was completely stock everything except for the tips. I bought the tips(from Classic Industries I think) when I bought the car new in '97. They held up well.

I did the full exhaust all at once; headers, high flow cat, and the Hooker catback. The catback was a '94-'95 style, so there was no way I could put it on my car until I did the '94-'95 style headers.

Hmm, I see what you are talking about. They are almost like longtubes. Interesting. I've never seen those before for the Camaro, not even on the MAC website. To be honest, I think they have them confused with the LS1 version. The exhaust ports on the LT1 are not evenly spaced like that.

i thought so too. thx. i am surprised no one has the no cats version to verify the difference of the two. seems stupid to choke off the headers when there are no cats though. i figured they would be like yours but with a ypipe that would not require the s-pipe . how did the buttmeter register with that new exhaust?
