Something Went Wrong... HELP!

I downshifted to pass someone on the highway this morning, and all of the sudden by car kinda started running really rough, maybe like it kept cutting in and out. I didn't even get on it hard then.

Also, it wouldn't idle well at all - the RPM's kept dropping slowly and I had to give it a little gas to keep it from alive. I have roller rockers so a little "ticking" is always there, but it seemed louder too (don't think I was just paranoid). I have some ideas but I wanted to get our opinions. Any ideas?

Pulled off the valve covers and everything looked fine. The knocking sound is getting louder and it sounds like it is down low in the center of the engine. Did I throw a bearing? That is what some of the car guys here think.

Take it to a shop and ask them. It could be something as simple as a bent pushrod.
I had some noise going on and a plug change to colder plugs, new fuel filter, and a little tweaking on the tune fixed it. People were telling me it was collapsed lifters, spun rod bearing, possible blown head gasket etc.

Too bad, that was my excuse to buy a 6.0L.

if you spun a bearing it would make hella noise and you would know it.

take the belt off and check to see if any pullys are loose

It is making a lot of bad noise. I started it again later to see what I could hear and it is getting worse and worse the longer it has ran. The tailpipes have some smoke coming out too

It actually sounds a lot like this, but a deeper and louder sound

Everyone said on his post that it sounded like a spun bearing

Yep, that's exactly what a spun bearing sounds like. Don't ask how I know.

Well, I drained the oil today and it did have some metal flakes in it. Guess it is time to pull the engine for my first time... kinda excited about that
