Something im working on for the LS1 into LT1 F-Body guys.

I already have one made but here is one that im working on now that will actually show the wiring so youll have a full diagram rather than connector comparisons.

This is for a 1998 LS1 wired to a 96-97 F-Body

More of a finished product

Zoomed in 2 parts

And The connectors

here is what i have already created. This is 96-97 Camaro for 98 LS1 transplant. Will do other years once im done.

Very nice, once you get it done, maybe it can get stickied. There are always alot of questions popping up pertaining to the LS1 conversions.

You obviously put a lot of work into this, and i'm not trying to bash you, but why would anyone not just buy an ls1 equipped car instead? I know the lt cars are cheaper, but once the conversion is all paid for, not to mention the work involved, are you coming out better than if you had just bought an ls1 equipped '98 car in the first place? Now for a 6cylinder car...............

Its debatable, some people can pick up their LT1s dirt cheap, a complete LS1 drivetrain can also be found for an affordable price too. Therefore, the cost of the conversion still comes out cheaper then buying a different car. Some people are the original owners of their LT1s, they don't want to get rid of the car, but want a fresher, more modern drivetrain. Other people just do the conversion just for the fun of it. There are lots of factors.

I get it that it's cool to put ls power into something that never had it, many of the conversions i've seen done on ls1tech I thought were pretty sweet, but to "convert" one into ls power when the factory already did all this, and on a major scale, these were not limited production cars, it seems like a waste of effort. I mean when you're done and you have invested all of the time and money and headache, what do you have to show for your effort? You have an ls powered 4th gen f-body. 1 of how many tens of thousands built?

I see the logic behind it, kudos man. Someone will end up using it, therefore you should be proud.

Alot of people (such as myself) are very tied to their cars... call it nostalgia.. I dunno.. I've had mine for close to 10 years.

Next motor for me is an LSx platform, so stuff like this will come in very handy for me in the future.

I agree 100% with Javier. I've had my car since 1999, so there's no way I'm giving it up just because I want a different drive train. It would be like selling one if my kids for someone else's kid to me. Not gonna happen.

Part of the fun to me is building the motor and installing it myself, and setting everything up the way that I want it. Gives me a whole different sense of pride in my car as opposed to just buying one.

I've already been tossing around the idea of picking up an L92 shortblock that I can get here locally to start putting together my next combo.....

I picked up a 97WS6 roller with 54K miles for $2K, buy a take out LSx engine and harness for < $2K and I have a kick *** car. A lot cheaper than spending >$8K on a car that looks like a catfish. Plus I know I'm not inheriting someones elses problems and I know it's done right If I couldn't get the ball rolling on the BBC, that was plan B for me.

I agree on the front end styling, but it's just a little more involved than buying a motorless car, engine and harness, and just bolting it in and pluging everything up. I'm just guessing, I've never done it, but wouldn't you probably need a lot more than that to adapt the car to an ls engine and get it up and running?

Not really, because like you mentioned earlier these cars were made with the engine in them so linkage, headers, wire routing, etc. are all pretty much the same, you just need a way to adapt the engine harness to the LT1 harness. You're right it's not a complete plug and play, but it's extremely close and Mike's diagrams he put together make it that much easier.
