Solidroller Conversion Done

Well I just drove my car around for the first time after the solidroller install. Wow what a difference. That damn thing pulls like a mother. That thing is just as quite as my hyd roller cam. I have much better drivability it seems like. Better throttle response and some as_ kicken power. Cant wait to get it to the track.

Is this your daily driver? What size cam did you go with and what lifters did you use?

No, its not my daily driver. I drive it when its really nice out or just crusin around town. I went with a CC custom billet. 242-248/570-577@112. I used the CC solidroller lifters.

Re: Solidroller Conversion Done

Just curious because there have been several threads on here about Cranes lifter problems.

I bought some Crane Lifters through Thunder racing but they are a different part number than the ones that keep getting discussed. I haven't been able to find anyone else using them but I called Thunder back and Paul told me he has them in his car so I still have no idea if I should use them.

I like that pic on your web site. I guessing thats your dad? Pretty cool

Let me know what kind of numbers you make or times with that set up.

Thanks
Tom

To change it you have to get a solidroller cam, billet is the way to go. A good set of solidroller lifters, valve springs for the cam, hardened pushrods for guideplates, guideplates, 7/16 rocker studs and roller nsa rockers. Keep it light and get titanum retainers. That pic in the front page is my older brother. He dragraces that car everywhere.

So what do u see as the advantages of running an SR cam over the Hydraulic style? Do they tend to always have the choppier idle ? Does it have a nice lower rpm pull?

Re: Solidroller Conversion Done

Well the advantages are that you can rev higher and faster and also have full control over your valvetrain. More power threw out the rpm band.

You can use sa rockers if you want, but i would never do that. The spring pressure is to much for that kind of valvetrain. They dont recommend it. In some cases you should use a girdle or rocker shaft.

Re: Solidroller Conversion Done

Yeah when you start seeing 500+ lbs over the nose or close to it on a SR setup good stiff rockers and studs (with the help of a girdle) is the way to go.

Getting any dyno numbers on that setup boss?

BTW what's up with that pic of the LT1 motor on your site? ;-)

Re: Solidroller Conversion Done

Yeah im gonna get dyno numbers on this with in the month. Waiting for the weather to clear up to get there. Hoping to put down around between 420-440. Oh you mean the pic that changes...lol...I did that to see if anybody would notice it. It takes awhile to change. Your the first person to say anything about it. Thanks
