What is the p/n for the Crower HIPPO lifters for an LT1 with stock lifter bores?

I believe it's 66290-16H

Can anyone very this?

The Crower site shows P/N 66290-16 to be Chevy v-8 262-400 .842"

I couldn't get Summit or Crower to tell me spefically if this was the correct p/n for an LT1 though.

I don't know what the deal is with Crower.
I've called them twice and can't get a call back.

I called Thunder racing and they recommended some made by
Crane and they had them in stock so I'm using them with the T&D's

Anyone have any input on the Crane solid roller lifters?

Well you can use whatever you want, but when you wind up with a broke engine from a broken lifter you may have wished you had bought Crower HIPPO lifters. Some have good luck some don't and a busted lifter will most likely,at the minimum, cost you a complete rebuild to get the metal and brg's out.
The 66290 are the standard lifters for a LT-1.The 66292 are the severe duty cutaway.Neither number are the HIPPO lifters.
They will not call you back, they are so busy.If you want to talk to Dave you will have to go on hold or call back.He hangs up one line and picks up another. They have got good stuff and people want their stuff, and they are busy so patience will get you there.

On the link Injuneer posted one page 1, it shows both the 66292's and the 66290's as "cutaway severe-duty", and adding an "H" after either p/n gets the HIPPO option. The 66292's show to be the same as the 66290's, except the 66292's have an intake offset. I called Crower last week and they confirmed this. What they couldnt confirm was the lifter bore that was required for the lt1 block. Is the lifter bore on the LT1s .842???

Well, that's why we had this big discussion... to see what people have run with success.

I don't personally have anything against Crane but I don't know many people running their solid lifters on the street. I believe Jason Short had some issues with his Crane lifters so maybe he'll chime in.
I'm kinda old and set in my ways so I use what I know works. Lifters are just one of those things alot of people don't think about until they break. Been there... didn't like that.

Now I'm really confused then - guess I'll be making some more calls on Tuesday. Summit and Crower both show the 66290s to be Cutaway Severe Duty.

1racerdude - do the cutaways you mentioned have the HIPPO option? If so, are they new or used - please PM me with detials and price.

Thanks

Re: Solid roller cams

Well, I called up Crower and Summit again a couple of weeks ago to verify, and they both said once more that the 66290H's are the cutaway severe dutys with Hippo and not the standard lifters. Crower again mentioned that the 66292s were also a Cutaway Severe Duty, but that they had an intake offset.

I went ahead and placed the order with Summit for P/N CRO-66290H-16 at that time.

They came in today, and yep, the 66290H's are definitely the Cutaway Severe Duty Roller lifters with the HIPPO option.

Here's some pics:

Re: Solid roller cams

Looks like $579 in summit. Surely you can get these cheaper?

Re: Solid roller cams

Maybe you can find them cheaper elsewhere, but crower said I couldnt buy direct and gave me Summit and some other vendor (whose name I forget) as the preferred distributors. I'm comfortable buying with Summit (and giving them my cc info) and I was able to speak to a live person, unlike the 2 other vendors I tried contacting. Since at the time of purchase I wasnt quite sure about the p/n situation, and what I'd be getting, I was willing to pay the $579.00 price from Summit for some piece of mind.
