solid lifter cam

Re: solid lifter cam
It's been done for daily driving purposes, but very expensive. The one thing you cannot skimp out on are lifters and well... most all the valvetrain components. I believe Isky Redzone lifters or equiv are over $500. It isn't worth doing unless you have headwork to accomodate the cam.

Solid roller on a daily driver...I like this guy! You can do like I did, buy a used set of K-Motion 900's, get the spring pockets machined to take them, and set them up at 220 seat pressure. You will have to grind the head of the center head bolt down to squeeze between the springs when putting the heads back on. It's the only one you have to do it to fortunately. I bought Howard's rollers for 239.00 and cut the oil groove in myself for idle oiling - similar to what the Endure-X lifter has. Comp has a fairly new Xtreme Street solid roller cam that has a "soft" initial ramp with an aggressive opening that is "friendly" to roller bearings. They lash at .014/.016, I can hardly hear it in mine. To top it off, I run 7/16 studs and guideplates.
