Screw the mid-lengths. Go big or go home!

Dont tell me you're afraid to jack up your motor? I only had to do it with the passanger side but some have to do both. LTs are only a pain to do by yourself. I had to do MOST of it by myself and it sucked. Have a friend and it will be a lot easier. I've never been a part of a Longtube install where there was no jacking up of the motor and I'm sure its a necessity on most installs. It only takes an extra 10 minutes or so. I dont think installing my longtubes was hard at all. Just time consuming. Most everyone is in a rush. No way that mentality is installing anything especially on a 4th gen F-body. These cars arent hard to work on, just time consuming. I actually thought the whole thing was easy but just took a while. The extra work is worth having longtubes. Besides if you get stuck, we're here to help. It takes a long time to do some simple things to my Z but I love every second of it.

If you have patience and tools, putting in headers is no big deal. I did my Hooker LT's by myself and just worked on it a couple hours a night and didnt see why everyone freaks out about it. It would have been easier with a 2nd person, but still it isnt bad. The hardest part of the whole install is getting the old stuff out. I soaked all the bolts on my manifold and y-pipe the night before with some pb blaster and all the bolts came out no problem. Do a search on here for a guide to install headers and you should have no problem.

I am a mechanical idiot and was able to install my LT's with a friend that new as much as me. We also replaced plugs & wires. I took 8 hours. We thought we ran into some problems getting the headers in, but we ended up getting them in pretty easily. It was pretty straight forward and well worth it.

Theres always Arizone Speed and Marine mid lengths with 1 3/4 inch primarys. Great headers, unmatched quality. They are as good as long tubes on a mildly modded car IMO.

I just installed FLP LT's on my car a few weeks ago. There was no need to jack up the motor...you just have to remove the alternator, starter, dipstick, and some emissions crap. The job took about 14 hours with 2 people, but everything went pretty smoothly. The headers install from under the car so you will have to jack it up pretty high and put it on some jackstands and/or ramps. Dont bother putting headers on unless you get LT's...they are worth the extra $ and shorties are probably just as difficult to install anyway. The hardest part was bolting the headers to the heads since the clearance for some of the bolts is very tight. You will just need a lot of PATIENCE...this is something I learned! Good luck

Not to mention overpriced, horrible plug access from what I'm told.. and more trouble to install that longtubes

Some people have to jack up the motor, some don't... In my experience of installing 3 sets of identical Hooker LT's, some go in easier than others as they are not all formed identically IMO. Also some cars have more room than others depending on the wear and tear on the motor mount giving different clearance..

For example, my Driver's side longtube took about 5 minutes to put in.
