So I tried doing my spark plugs.

Well, I got all of the drivers side plugs done.. Now seeing where they all are, I think I could do it pretty quickly next time.

The passenger side though, I didnt even attempt.. I took off the alternator hoping it would make it easier, and it didnt.. I have no clue where to even start.. Suggestions??

I was going to do wires also, but I gave up..

i feel your pain. my 94 is pretty easy compaired to the dual cat cars though. you nedd to shuve your hand down there, forget about the pain becouse you'll cut yourself a few times. and feel your way around the engine until you find a plug.

i have a lift so i cheated, wouldnt even attempt on the ground.

Spark plugs, ahhh... The only time I actually thought of lighting the car on fire! Think of the bright side, you'll learn some new swear words. Also, count how many times you catch yourself saying, " I just want to meet one GM engineer, just ONE" I shaved off a 5/8 spark plug socket and it worked ok for me. Good luck.

get some headers and consider it an investment.

Ok, i'll be serious.. for me, I found it easiest when I took a deep socket, placed it over the spark plug after feeling around for it.. then slipped a 21 or 22mm (i forge which, sorry) open ended box wrench over the deep socket and took them off that way.

Spark plugs on these cars are no walk in the park. Good luck!

My grandaddy use to tell me, "if you have a V8 and can't change you're own plugs, buy a damn 6 lick and pay someone because you don't deserve the pleasure"

Now on my Iroc....I have no problems....Never paid anyone to do a tune up in my life nor do anything on my car and I ain't going to start now.

Bust your nuckle's, and say GD a few times...It's a learning exp.

Do the passenger side from underneath...pull the starter and you'll have somewhat easy access to all the plugs. Reach up towards the front of the block and do the first plug, then work your way back. If you're doing wires too, loosen the power steering pump and remove the belt tensioner to get easier access.

Tell grandaddy to try it on an LT1 F-body, and I guarantee he'll sing a different tune. What a nightmare. I can do a cam swap in a 5.0 faster than a plug/wire change in an LT1.

Practice your yoga breathing and let your arm relax while you slide it in from the front.

I know I didn't remove my alternator. But I think the #2 is easier from underneath the car.

It isn't easy...I've done it. But he never said it didn't take time..

He is still living back in the 50's he ran a garage from 54-75 with his daddy and brothers.

I think it's kinda crazy to pay someone to do something so easy.

I mean...sure it takes time, but if you have the time do it yourself..

Well thats just my 2 cents

Headers definitely make it easier, but the passenger side is still a real drag.
