So I blow all my antifreeze on the road today.
I've posted before about losing antifreeze, but not being able to find out where. I put a bottle of Bars antifreeze leak, in before I left, the ones with the little pellets. After a few miles I noticed the low level light came on (again) and the temp was higher than normal. Next thing I know, the temp is in the red, it took me about 2 minutes to get off the red, I was stuck at a red light. I pop the hood and antifreeze was all over the battery and all around the rad. reservoir and down the res. filling tube. Nothing else, no smoke or water out the back, no clouds of smoke form the engine bay. Just a hugh *** puddle of antifreeze coming out from the passenger wheel well. I looked in the res. and it was still full, I could hear water coming back into the rad, but not from the res. I cracked the rad. cap and the res. rushed into the rad. It took a gallon of antifreeze and a refill of the res. It held just fine all the way home (10 miles), normal temp and everything. I let it sit running for about 5 minutes. The low level light came back on and the temp went up A LITTLE. I'm thinking the pellets clogged something, I don't know. It's just weird it all blew out of the car and after filling it up, it was fine, except for the light coming on after I got home. Also, did running the car in the red for 2 minutes or so hurt my heads? Any ideas? Sorry about the long post.
