Smoke from dipstick and oilfiller cap??

been having a TON of problems with my car lately...you may have seen my previous posts....or not

Any way, i put new rods and main bearings in today. cheack all clearances. mains were all about .021-.025 rods were all about .020-.025 ....seems kinda tight? but i dunno how acuright plasigage is.
well put oil in it, Exon superflo 10w-30. took is for a 30 mile spin. never went over 3k rpm, never gave it alot of gas, never let it really idle that long.

oil pressur and all looked good, lil high at first, but it cam down to regular.

Heres the odd part. pulled in to my driveway and shut it down. i pulled the dipstick out and there was smoke coming off of the dipstick and smoke coming out of the dipstick tube. by no means was it billowing, but there was a lil smoke and the oil seems hot.

I have no oil cooler
water temp was good at 170 or less the whole time
There was clevite77 red stuff assembly lube in it

anythoughts of what that means? thingk it was the oil or something else?

Man I hate to say it but that sounds like a piston/ring problem.....thats what my engine was doing when I broke a ring land. Check your compression.

I've had my cars throw a little smoke from the oil filler before when up to operating temp, but I can't recall it coming from the dipstick tube. I really wouldn't worry about it if everything checks out ok.

well i will take it as is comes i guess. i will put another 20 or so miles on it, then put it some mobil 1. synthetics have a high heat tolerance and should hold up better...in theory

i have the worst luck

Did you change piston rings? Fresh rings on an unhoned block can take some time to seat. Would explain the smoke.

typo on the clearances

Actully everything in new, cept for the shortblock. I bought it from a friend with "40k miles on it, is good working order"
So it very well could be the rings. I just changed the oil so i will see how that goes

I had a popping noise under hard acceleration and high rpm .
One other thing that can cause the problem you are having is a faulty PCV valve.....check it.
