Smells like burning coolant.....but where?

This only happens when it is really hot out, 95+, or for a little while after I running it pretty hard. I did had it bust a hose on the headers and spilled coolant all over the back of the motor. The dealer said they cleaned it up as best they could, but said that there were some spots where they could get to, but that happened ~2yrs ago. It blew the head gaskets a yr ago and that stopped the consumption of coolant, but the smell still remains. It is a very strong sweet smell that comes out the vents, but I don't think you can smell it outside the car. There is nothing leaking from the heater. Could it be the clutch? I'm at a loss for what it could be.

thanks
Jeremy

Look for a crack in a hose.. when one of mine cracked it was an ultra super fine jet of water/coolant that i could barely see. Cracks usually happen on hoses with bends and such.

Check the heater hoses that go to the firewall. You might also want to check the bottom where the radiator hose is.

I have the same thing...minus the blown HG. Tracked it down to a leak in the o-ring around the thermostat. I never see any fluid, but it stains orange on the aluminum.

one other thing, if you smell it inside your car very strongly it could be your heater core leaking ITs on the passenger side under the dash. WHen it leaks real bad it will flood the interior passenger side

I am sure that it isn't the core bcuz I can trun the AC/heater on and not always smell it. It only seems to happen after either running the car really hard or when I sit in traffic on a very hot day.
