small block

How similar is the machine work to do a 383 stroker on an lt1 compaired to a triditional small block? I am wanting build a 383 but all the machine shops that I know of dont have any experiance with lt1s. I would assemble the rotating assembly myself. Could I just have them work the block like a reagular smallblock or are there to many diffrences? I just cant quite afford a crate motor so this is my only option. Thanks.

Only difference I ran into is the Block is a little thinner on the bottom of the Bores. Have to be careful as to not hit the water Jacket. I took my time and took off a little at a time. But have heard others goin to far and hitting the water jacket. I cant remember which bore was the most prone to bein undercut. I am sure someone will chime in on which cylinder it is.
