SLP Loudmouth vs Hooker Cat Back

Ok guys, i just read the thread about the hooker cat back, and I am wondering which one sounds better. I plan on doing shorty headers in the future as well. I do like loud noise but I want it to sound good. Anyone got sound clips of both. I want my car to sound mean and be intimadating. Give me your thoughts.

I've heard both and I'd have to say I like the sound of the hooker better. The tips that come with the hooker are pretty crapy, I've had mine on for about 6 months and they are allready getting pretty rusty.

within a year or so i plan on having ported heads, HOTcam, shorty headers, PCMForless, CAI, as the main mods. SO I want to get the right exhaust the first time. But I like loud so I don't know what to do.

I have a 97 Z and I have Loud Mouths on mine. Here's what they sound like on my car. This is my friends site so I hope it works.

This is like comparing apples to oranges. They sound totally different.

The SLP LM sounds like what it really is: An overpriced straight-pipe set-up(the resonator isn't really a resonator, just a larger peice of hollow pipe). It is loud at idle, very unrefined, and nascar like at WOT. BTW, it sounds horrible without cats(very raspy, sick tone).

The Hooker sounds like a well-muffled muscle car. It's quiet at idle, fairly mellow at cruise, and muscular at WOT. Overall, it has a nice deep, refined sound.

Personally, I think the Hooker sounds waaaaay better(I hate the sound of unmuffled exhausts).

I'm actually trying to decide the same thing. But i'm trying to decide between the hooker, slp loudmouth, or the magnaflow system. I've sort of leaning towards the magnaflow becuase i've heard a lot of good things with it. But i'm still not sure.

Have you thought about trying the SLP 2OTL catback. It is the optional exhaust that came on 96-97 SS camaros and the firehawk LT1 cars. I loved the way that exhaust sounded on my 97 SS with Hooker Longtubes, offroad ypipe (no cats) and this exhaust. With just that exhaust setup and no other mods, my SS dynoed 301rwhp and 329rwtq. Not to shabby for a full exhaust LT1.
I promise you will not be dissapointed with this exhaust setup.

I have the loudmouth with shorties. It is really loud like im gonna get a ticket loud. But it does sound awsome. At idle it just sits there and rumbles. And as for the refine or not refine. I dont know. All i know is when i stop somewhere people say how cool the car sounds. And people on the street (ricers) dont neven think about looking my way.
