I have a question, what do you guys think about the SLP loudmouth exhaust? Do you think it sounds good, and what horepower gain woudl u expect from installing it? If you guys dont like it what other exhaust systems do you like, and do you like any that are not very expensive?

IM probably gonna be getting a LM this summer(gonna change the resinator a bit though). They seem like a pretty popular exhaust, and from what i heard the name is fitting, they sound pretty good, and add decent power(theres no way the could do otherwise really).

they are a good exhaust, they tend to be a bit loud for some peoples tastes, and kindda on the raspy side.
but you cna change out the resonator for a dynomax bullet muffler and tone it down without losing any power.

since they are basically a straight pipe, they pretty much give you the most hp compared to other 3" catbacks...

another one to look into that flows well and looks fantastic, and isn't a bank buster is the magnaflow...link in my sig

Thank you for the link, that was my old thread, i couldn't find it when i logged on. I think the LM sounds good too and is pretty cheap, i was looking into an exhaust system before my last camaro got totalled. I am now looking into a 94 Teal Z28 Convert. I was wondering since i know the LM is pretty loud, do you think it would be annoying with the top down, or also would the lack of a hard top make it louder inside with the top up? I just dont want to spend a few hundred bucks and be displeased. It sounds like though most of you guys like it.

 

That's pretty funny, I didn't even realize that was your old thread!

From what I gather the LM sounds great with stock equipment, but when you move up to headers it starts getting a little loud. I myself was going to go with the LM but have since changed my mind since I will be going with some LT's.

 

the name says it all! its not for the timid, thats for sure. if you dont like alot of interior resonance(sp), this exhaust is not for you. you can switch out the resonator for a "straight through" muffler, and that will help with the raspyness OUTSIDE the car, but the interior sound is still pretty loud. i dont mind it but its not for everyone...

i dont see how the HP gains could not be benificial since theres nothing baffling the flow of exhaust. they (SLP) "claim" up to 25hp. take from that what you will.

BTW, you will lose some of your low RPM SOTP feel, but theres definately a noticable increase in mid/top end power. so, i guess you really dont "lose" it, it just moves

I just installed mine over the weekend on my SS. When I first started it, she barked and growled like nothing I’ve ever heard. It was love at first sound. The sound clips on the Internet don’t do it justice. The weather was nice today so I want out for a short drive. It sounded so sweet!!! I even drove by a cop and while accelerating up to speed, and nothing. The best exhaust I’ve ever bought. I currently have the TOTL on my GTA and I like the LM on my SS much better. If SLP makes a LM kit for the third gen I’ll be upgrading again.
