slp intake question

i tried test fitting my slp intake yesterday. i got it used and and theres no air hose fitting on it, so im not sure if its for an lt1. but i slid the bracket on the intake into the spot on the rad support, and the bracket is wider at the top so it only fits about half way into the rad support. but it does seem to line up with the maf i just need to trim the intake because there isnt enough room for the maf. my questions are, is the intake bracket only supposed to fit halfway? also can anyone give me a part number for the breather they used for the air pump hose? thanks

to me it looks like either a tailpipe turndown or an exhaust turn down. I guess I just can visualize anything to do with the intake unless your vehicle is other than an Lt variety. Teach me something.

Thx.

its an old SLP unit. I put one on someones V6 a long time ago. It uses two filters and doesn;t require you to take off the underplastic to get the filters on. THere is supposed to be a rubber seal and clamps on the big end to connect to the MAF.

I recently bought a new SLP intake. It looks pretty much exactly like that, but I haven't installed it yet.

does the mounting bracket on yours look like mine? only the narrow part fits in the spot on the rad support, but it lines up with the maf. i need to cut mine, i have an aluminum intake elbow and theres not enough space between it and the intake for the maf. i also need to buy a coupler and a breather for the air pump hose since mine doesnt have the fitting for it.

I'd bet it's for a '93 LT1 which was a speed density FI system which explains why its too long for your MAF to fit.
The mounting tab only fits halfway into the slot on the radiator support, ie. the wide part of the tab rests on the top shoulders of the slot in the support. HTH

My car is in Kentucky, so I can't check, but my mounting bracket looks something like what you have. I also haven't mounted mine, so I'm not sure how it's going to fit. I agree with the other guy in that it could be for a '93. I believe they made two different flavors, one for the speed density cars, and another for those that use a MAF.

I checked Maryland Speed, and also SLP's site. They only show intakes for 94-97. SLP's site does mention 93-97 in the overview for the 94-97 intake, but they don't actually list a '93 intake. Perhaps they no longer make it, or never did. I certainly thought they did at one point.
