Angry SLP headers and burnt plug wires

I have at least one burnt plug wire. I can see it arcing against the primary on number 5. Spraying water on the primary confirms that the cylinder isn't firing much. I may also have number 2 bad, since the water doesn't evaporate all that fast from that primary either.

What can I do to protect the plug wires?

Will an over the valve cover setup work with SLP headers? I have looked at it, and the passenger side seems a bit tight.

with my SLP's I went over the top for all plugs except 1 and 3 which were done from the bottom.

I did OTVC wires, taylor, and wont do it again. The passenger side SLP shorties on my 96 are a pain. This time I'm going as close to stock location as I can with MSD wires. After the header installation and stock wires, the car ran perfectly fine for over 20,000miles. Once I switched to OTVC Taylors the nightmares began. Good luck if you go that route, its back to stock location for me.

'96 is a dual cat set up - headers are different, OVC seems to work for my single cat setup

I have my wires in the stock location with double layered Spectre (super cheap) heat shielding for added insureance. I don't think any of mine are touching anyways would be ok without heat sheilding, you just have to get them in there right.

i just did as&ms and they're very similar. i used msd heat wrap for all my wires as added insurance but none are touching. on the passenger side i took of the tensionor pulley and ran them through the hole there. from there it's just up from the motor mount and none are even close to touching. on the drivers side they go through the stock location and i have them snugged as close to the block as possible. they only close one is 6 and it's still 1/2" away. give that a shot...
