Question SLP CLUTCH INSTALL... Questions...

OK, as I finished the Intake leak Saturday, now comes the time for the new clutch... I bought the SLP clutch disc and the pressure plate, I'm gonna get the stock flywheel resurfaced at NAPA once its off... So does the SLP unit already have the throw out bearing installed? Do I need to get a new pilot bushing? if so what is recommended? Also I plan on doing my rear main while the area is open. Which to get Teflon or Rubber? I'm probably going to start this tommorow and hopefully have it done for tuesday... is there any guides for this install. I have done my own opti/waterpump/intake gasket so far.... so I should be able to tackle this myself.. any and all tips/tricks/links would be very helpful and much appericated... Thanks guys/gals...

LOL, Hyperspeed. This is funny, you are doing the exact oposite i did. I took trans out yesterday, and waiting to get my clutch back from star spec, and I am doing intake fix later this week. As for your questions. The SLP unit should come with a new throwout berring (its in their pic), and it should be in there already from my knowledge. Unless you bought the peices alone, and not the kit (not sure). As for the Piolet Berring, REPLACE IT. It will ONLY cost you $6 from the dealer and if u dont replace it you will end up having a griding noise eventualy. As for the rear seal. I BELIVE from looking at it, that it is rubber, and now is DEFINITLY a time to do it :-) If you have any questions on the trans removal, email me: NVetro@nj.rr.com I am sure i will have questions on intake fix Answer your questions?

the slp comes with the throwout bearing. I believe all the rear main seals are rubber. Also do the pilot Bushing. Mine was completely shot. I would stay away from a pilot bearing go with the bushing. I got mine at the local autoparts store for a few bucks.

Why did you TTT? Do you still have questions? I'll try to help some
1- pilot bushing. Get a bushing from an auto parts store, not the bearing from the dealer. Its my understanding the bushing has been phases out by GM, but many people have problems with it, so I used an aftermarket bushing.
2- rear main seal. Felpro makes a teflon and a rubber seal. I used an OE replacement rubber seal, it seemed like what most people used. Its basically up to you. You can get a piece of 4" pvc to pound in the rms with, or you can just do it by hand and a block of wood.
