Slp Cai+cut Out------hp????

HOW MUCH RWHP WOULD I GAIN???????
also where should i put the cut out?
is it too loud that its gonna give me a head ake?
how shaky is the interior?
thanks
should i go with hooker catback?instead

the cai should give you a solid 10 rwhp gain. maybe more, but that is a good reliable gain.

as for the cutout. that should be another 10hp gain, maybe closer to 15hp over stock muffler. if you are worried about interior noise, you'll want to install it as far back as possible. typical spot is just before the loop over the axle. this give relatively easy access and it is far enough back that the interior sound isn't horrible. there is a noticable increase, particularly if you have the windows up. but i keep mine open just about 24/7 and i have the windows down always (unless it rains). and i like the sound.

as for whether you should just get a cat back. that's debatable. guys are seeing hp gains of sometimes 10hp by putting cutout on an aftermarket exhaust, so even if you get a cat back it's not a bad idea to have a cutout installed. if you don't mind a loud exaust, and want the benefits of a cutout, you could go for something like the SLP loudmouth. it is loud, although slightly quieter than a cutout (due to the exits being at the bumper), but it flows great due to it being basically a straight pipe.

cutouts are good, cutouts on catback are even better, particularly if you plan to do more mods later...that way you arn't choking the engine w/ stock pipes for those times you need the car quiet...

i have just those two mods so far (saving for heads/cam now)

slp cai i got used for $100......and a cutout from jegs for $26.


the way i look at.....most guys spend $180 on a new cai, and from $400-600 on a catback (then some even add a cutout!).

i spent $130.......and saved atleast $450+ to spend on things that will actually make a difference.

there difference between a catback and cutout might be 4-5 rwhp............who cares about that tiny amount for $450+............spend that money on something that will actually make the car much faster, like a cam+valvetrain mods!


the only prob with getting just a cutout, is some people dont like the sound.........but is the catback "sound" worth all the money?.....cause is sure doesnt make a difference in power.
