SLP 2OTL custom idea
SLP 2OTL custom idea
the SLP 2OTL is just a straight pipe running to a muffler and straight pipe out to tips correct...well, i first want to know how people like the sound of this catback, and second, i dont like the look of only 2 tips, would it be possible to run extra piping out from somewhere into another set of tips?
I love the way my SLP 2OTL sounds, it's got a nice deep rumble and a happy medium between loud and quiet. I know it is possible to do what you're saying, a while back someone was selling an SLP 2OTL catback with an extra set of tips welded on the driver's side making it adjustable like Borla, but I don't have a clue how much it would cost.
are you trying the 20tl with the right pipe being routed something like in front of the muffler to the right side, or taking the left pipe and routing it behind the muffler to the right side for that dual look? im confused with what you are asking.
as for the sound, it rocks. i like it more than borla myself. but my cat killed itself when i did the catback. i had a tech inspect it, and he says that almost all lt1's with catbacks have a cat or both fail immediately after the install. something about not enough backpressure to hold itself together. so be prepared to spend the extra dough for a set of headers that have a y and cats, or at least a new y pipe.

well i need to take a look at how the exhaust is set up, but i am thinking about running a very small y (like the size of a cutout) and running extra pipe leading to dual tips, and just replace the tips w/ aftermarkets on both sides...sound possible?
It sounds possible to me, just make sure you have a good exhaust shop do it, I'd be worried the tips wouldn't line up. As for using aftermarket tips, you can't really do that since there are 2 pipes exiting on the driver's side.
Ive wanted to get this exhuast and route it down the middle and have two tips exiting under the license plate. The newer ss camaro's have this setup, but i believe they use dual pipes. You could use one pipe going out and figure out a way to weld two tips together, it'd be something different.
The SLP 2OTL is not a straight through design actually. It has a divider down the center kinda looks like ( | ) that if you look down the inlet. It is basically two glass packs side by side on the inside.
You really cannot just make a opening in the case of the muffler and add a outlet since you will hit the insulation/batting that is in there.
The muffler itself is made by borla. The tips are hard to come by since no one wants to break up their setup.
The sound is deep. Will pop if you have a very free flowing exhaust with no cats, but it is rare.
The new SS exhaust is the ugliest setup ever.

Instead of risking the chance of ruining a 2OTL, why don't you instead buy an SLP Dual/Dual system? It has dual outlets with quad tips like a Borla, and I think they use the same muffler as a 2OTL except it has dual outlets.
the dual/dual muffler is a serious muffler. it probably weights twice that if not more than the 2OTL muffler.. and im not exaggerating!
with a 3" inlet centered on that one side, you couldnt very easily weld up another tip directly beside it for lack of room. either go with the 2OTL the way it is or find another catback. personally i dont think mine looks all that bad at all on a camaro.

I've heard many set-ups on the LT1 and without a doubt the SLP 2OTL is my favorite sounding cat-back system for that motor. Very deep/throaty sound that is not loud, but not not quiet either. Personally, I really like the look of it on a Camaro.
If you don't want to keep it the way it is don't bother with it. Just get another good-sounding system(Hooker, Magnaflow, Flowmaster) that already has dual-exiting tips in place.
