97 Z28,6M,I WENT TO TRACK LAST WEEK AND I RAN 14.8 PASSING AT 95MPH ON STREET TIRES,FOR SOME REASON IN 2ND GEAR MY FUEL CUTS OFF AT 5,000RPM,MY CURRENT MODS;SLP CAI,1,5 DROP,160*T,NO MUFFLER,REMOVED SPARE TIRE AND JACK,I ALSO REPLACED THE SPARK PLUGS BEFORE THE RACE,MY LAUNCH WAS BAD 2,NO TRACTION WHAT SO EVER AND I DROPED THE TIRE PRESSURE AT 20PSI.ANY ADVICE ON WHY MY FUEL ITS CUTTING OFF IN 2ND GEAR AT 5,000RPM? ALSO WHATS THE RECOMMENDED RPM FOR LAUNCHING MY CAR WITH MY CURRENT MODS? I HAVE NO IDEA ON HOW TO LAUNCH THANKS FOR READING!

 

Check/replace your fuel filter. Also, put a gauge on it and go do a WOT run. Maybe your stock pump is gettin weak or something. As for launching, get some practice on the street with feathering the gas pedal.

 

I wouldn't drop the pressure that low on street tires, that may actually be hurting you. Also, has the car had a tuneup lately? Bad plugs, wires, ect. can easily add time to your e.t.s If you feel you are having a fuel issue, put a fuel pressure gauge on it and confirm. Also, turn off the caps lock!

Your key words were that it launched bad. If it was a 2.4 or worse 6 0foot time just getting to a 2.1 or 2.0 wuld put you closer to a 14.0.

How do you know your fuel cuts at +5000 rpm?
If its just a lack of power your assuming its fuel when it could be ignition related as well.
