Angry Slow track times, HELP!

Well, let me first set the scene. My car is mostly stock as far as performance mods (see sig). It has 103,000 miles on it, newer bosch plugs, but still has the stock spark plug wires, opti spark, coil, and CLUTCH! I am new to driving a 6-speed so I wasnt expecting too much, but I shift pretty quick for a newby.

Went to the track, temp was in the high 80's, barometer was 30.2, humidity was around 50%. I made two runs only, check them out:

8:12 pm

60'.......2.24
330'.....6.14
1/8......9.39
1/4......14.47
mph.....96.62

mph is way low, and my shift to 3rd wasnt the greatest.

2 hours later (car cooled for about 2 hours between each run)

10:01 pm

60'......2.68 (lit em up)
330'....6.94
1/8.....10.21
1/4.....15.26
mph....94.82

clutch slipped extremely bad when I shifted into second, i mean bad!!! so that plus the 60' killed that run, but would the cluthc slipping still cause the low mph?? Something isnt right, so tell me where to start guys. If you need any more info, just ask. Thanks.

Eddie

there are many things tha can help to cause poor time, the temp, elevation, humidity, etc. You 60's are bad, stock wires are probably not helping, high 80's is not good. All in all I'd say a crappy day. But we would take it her in Louisiana.

I remember up at Norwalk in May I ran a 15.1 at 94mph (stock) I had an extra body in the car and it was my first time at the strip.

But I heard heard their times there were always high, so maybe it's the same there

Your times are ok. Get a new clutch.

So the low mph is not something to be too concerned about? Is it just because I am a new driver? I have to say, after bracket racing my 13.8sec automatic Monte SS last summer, a stick is so much more challenging, which makes it soooo much more fun!!!

I have times like your first run, but that was after quite a few runs in a row, weather plays a big role with these cars.
