Single Cat Mindlengths for my 97

Ok. When I get money I am going to get some ceramic coated mac midlengths. I heard that I should go with the Single cat headers? Am I right? Also, I will be running an ORP with them. I bought a magnaflow system this summer and it has the S pipe I didn not use. So when I go with the single cat headers, this S pipe will need to be used to connect it to my exhaust system? Also, will I need OTVC wires with midlengths? Thanks.

Why don't you just get 96-97 style Mac headers and y pipe without the cats? But if you decide to get 94-95 style headers then yes you'll have to use the s pipe to connect the whole system up. You don't need to get OVC looms. I did, and I really dislike them. I think they look tacky. This is why I'm going to remove them this summer, and go back to the stock location.

Alright, but one thing I gotta know, the S pipe that came with my magnaflow system is the one I need to put single cat headers on right? The S is about foot or foot and a half long. That the one? Otherwise everything else is the same installation as dual cat headers? Also when I order the single cat headers, everything will bolt up in the stock location, including the Y pipe?

Cool

Yes you are correct; I would recommend doing the single cat conversion so you can get rid of the second cat. You will need to have the s pipe welded in when you have the Mac headers and y-pipe installed so you can connect your exhaust to your off road pipe or cat. Also don't forget you will need o2 sims for the rear o2s. If you don't get o2 sims for the rear o2s you will get a SES light. For the OTVC, it is pretty much up to you. You can route them in the stock locations with some Taylor 8mm wires. I went with the OTVC my self and I like them. You will love the Macs also for the easy plug access. I had my friends install some 1.6rrs and they were impressed since all the plugs were accessible from the top. If you have any questions please feel free to send me a pm or e-mail.

The reason I dont get the 96-97 version is due to I heard that they are not midlengths, and thats what I want....

I just got done with putting on the single cat MAC's in my '97. Yes, the S-pipe you got with the MAgnaflow will be used with the new headers/Y-pipe.

You don't need new wires or plugs.

I can't believe how good they sound with the Hooker catback and single high flow cat.

You will need rear O2 sims, or get them programmed out with the PCM.

I think I might have an exhaust leak that I have to track down though.
