Which side of a Percy's Aluminum gasket faces the head?
I had a bad experience with mr. gasket copperseals and 94 style SLP midlengths. The crush collar overlapped with the port and 'kinked' if you will. It wouldn't fully seal because of that. You might want to check that the crush collar will be on the flange everywhere.

It's not a crush collar like the copperseals, I've seen them before. It seems that one side is indented and one is normal... The collar on the copperseals is very distinguishable.

They should be similar to my Earl's. The edges of the aluminum steel around the ports are beveled so the lead center can only go in one way(also holds it in place). I made the mistake of just slapping them together the first time and ruined a set of inserts. I installed mine w/ the bevel facing in, thus locking the insert between the edge of the bevel and the face of the head.
Percy's web site says, smooth side facing the head.http://store.yahoo.com/percyshp/sealexgas.html
