Shouldnt I be faster??

96LT1TX no powershifting isn't flooring it and shifting hard normally. Powershifting is maualy putting the transmission into 1st and then into second. Basically forcing the tranny to stay in the gear. Then allow it to shift into second. It's horrible on the tranny cause when you do that there is very low line pressure. Burn your @#$% up fast and puts uneeded stress on other components.

Offspring, I think the filter needs a good cleaning and some practice with shiftpoints and you should do alot better. You didn't tell us what your shiftpoints are by the way, that might help. I'm pretty sure the car is fine. Not too many put down 300 at the wheels on just bolt ons.

At least you know not to try to make your auto into a stick car. You can't pick consistent shift points better than the computer anyways.

In regards to racing, and as opposed to other types of transmissions, powershifting is keeping your foot on the floor while stabbing the clutch and changing gears quickly enough and at the right time so as to not hit the rev limiter.
I personally know only a small handful of very experienced and successful drag racers that can actually do this consistently and without breaking parts on an ongoing basis.
If you are not comfortable with powershifting do not try it. The learning curve is often expensive.
I do know that two, and sometimes three tenths can be picked up by properly powershifting a vehicle, but there is always the potential for damage.
In my opinion, low 13's at your trap speed is about rights for just regularly shifting your ride with your mods.
Sure, there are people who mightget a high 12 out of it on a good day but you are better off to let the car do the work for you if you don't want to break parts.
Even low 13's can be hard on the rear end.

Re: Shouldnt I be faster??
It's all in how you drive the car.... when my car dynoed 262/292 on a slipping tranny the very next day I went to the track and ran a 13.216 @ 103.97 on a crappy (for me) 1.876 60'. All I had done to the car was a CAI/2800 stall converter/3.73's and a couple other pointless things. It's mainly driver and track prep.

Re: Shouldnt I be faster??
I have close to the same mods you do only I have SLP shorties and my cam is on a 110 LSA. Dynoed 340 rwhp/rwtq but at the track the best I can do is 13.28 @108.1 mph with a 2.29 60' on street tires. I have noticed my trap speed goes up as I cut a faster 60' too so if I can get outta the hole w/o bogging or spinning at 3500+/- rpm then Id probably trap around 110 mph... bet you would too.
