Should I use thread sealant on the coolant crossover pipe?

Getting ready to put a new coolant crossover pipe on my new set of heads and just wondering if I should use any permatex thread sealant on the bolts, or just bolt them on with the supplied gaskets only?

You should only need the gaskets......any silicone or anything may smash out and clog up the pipe.

Agreed. No need. I use 4 seals instead of what looks like only two are called for in the Camaro parts manual.
When I used two I could smell coolant after the car got to temp. After using four it was no longer a problem.
Besides using sealant would do you no good. Since it is a banjo bolt coolant is channeld through the bolt past the threads.

When you say 4 seals do you mean one on either side of the steam tube (2 per banjo bolt 4 total?) If so thats correct!

I use a little antiseize on the banjo bolt threads.

Yep. However in the parts manual it only shows one per bolt.

Hmmm...my parts manual clearly shows 4 total seals in the 93-94 detail, but two shown in the diagram for 95-97. However both list 4 required when you read the part listing.

I have a bad habit of only looking at pretty pictures.

So no need for any sealant, just bolt on with the 4 supplied gaskets and I'm good to go, right?

Yep, with 1 gasket on each side of the steampipe (four total)

IE left side one between cylinder head and steam pipe and the other between steam pipe and banjo bolt head)
I know.....

but obviously someone has gotten it wrong!

So, I should put anti-sieze on the banjo bolts? Mine came off easy and I want to keep it that way. Also- where is a good place to buy just the seals, my bolts look fine.

There are 4 seals needed. If you get them at the stealership they are about 8$ a piece I beleive. But the seals are the same thing as the seals on some a/c systems. Take in your old seals to a local autoparts store that knows what they are doing and they should beable to find the exact same seal for you for about a little less then 2$ a piece.
