Should I use this oil next time I change mine?

My car is just short of 87,000 miles. Yesterday I was at Auto Zone and passed off the section for motor oil. I came across a Valvoline Higher Mileage oil and a Quakerstate High Horsepower oil. What I'm more concerned about is, would it be a good idea to switch to a high mileage oil like the Valvoline?

A good synthetic will benefit your motor more then any higher mileage oil.

What do you think they put in the oil to make it more "high mileage" friendly? Seems like a marketing ploy to me. Plus if your engine bombs, they can always say, well it IS a high mileage engine .....
Oh well I'd go with a synthetic.

patman is the oil guru on the board and he recommends castrol gtx high mileage. high mileage oil has more detergents in it and some seal swellers. as for putting in synthetic in a high mileage motor that was running dino oil i wouldn't do it. if you have any leaks now it will get worse and non-existent leaks may start since synthetic is much slicker.

Synthetic oil, is the better oil. Its breakdown point is higher than any regular oil. As to which one is good for you? Synthetic.

Maybe I should just keep doing normal oil changes every 2500 miles?
