Should I lose the MSD 6A

Hey guys, I'm doing a H/C swap and throwing a new opti-spark on in the process. Do I keep the MSD, or get rid of it, because of the supposed extra wear on the opti? What would you do?

generally speaking a healthy stock ignition is just fine. I personally would dump the msd box just to keep life simple

OTOH, the 6A has never been proven to harm the opti.

Stock ignition may be adequite enough... but it can be better.

Don't see a reason to get rid of the MSD box. Darn near every race car has one. Did wonders for my ride.

I"d say keep it.

Re: Should I lose the MSD 6A

With your plannned mods, I would doubt you would notice any performance improvement or benefit with the MSD box. Key word is "notice". From my experience and belief, the benefits are minimal. Having said this I have MSD boxes on both of my performance vehicles. I have had the MSD Digital6+ on the Camaro since 1998. If there was any benefit it was not noticable from SOTP. On the other hand with my highly modified 90 454SS truck, I can say there was a gain and I would recommend an MSD box for that design GM ign system.

If you already have the box installed, I say keep it.

Keep it. It's not hurting you.
