Re: Shorty headers worth it on a 97 car?
Just remember bigger is not always better when youre talking header size. I know some people may disagree with me and say that you should to 1 3/4" primaries, however keep in mind that many stocker guys are running well into the 10's with 1 5/8 or smaller primaries. Look at what you have, and what you will have in the future to decide on which header you want! I will be installing my Edelbrock Shorties this week, I will let you know what happens, and what not. Whatever you decide, Goodluck!

Re: Shorty headers worth it on a 97 car?
I used senior skip day at school this past week to install my SLP shortie headers. I also did plugs/wires/tranny service. It was a great time, and I would say that 15 horsepower isn't being optimistic at all. I feel, even with the stock cats, that I will be passing my buddys all stock a4 Ls1 SS. He only ran a 13.5xx, almost a 13.6 with a 2.0xx 60 foot. I ran my 14.124 with almost a 2.3 60ft when I was stock. With the addition of the headers, cat-back, and intake, and some better tires, I think that I will pull a 13.5, and if I don't... well it just means its time for some real power mods.

You can use one from Stainless Works or RandomTech sells one as well. I use the Stainless Works ORY-pipe.

You can use the stock dual cat y-pipe as well, thats what I am doing due to money constraints.
