Re: Shorty headers

1 and 3/4" are good for a lot of power......don't know exact numbers, but have seen some series numbers put down with shorty sytle headers with the larger primaries.....Then again if they had longtubes they might have made even more.....who knows. It's just a guess. How much HP do you want?

Re: Shorty headers

would shorty style headers be good enough for 375 rwhp?

Re: Shorty headers

I'm making 593 rwhp with JBA 1 5/8" shorties. Granted these headers are not optimum for this horsepower range but I'm willing to give up some horsepower rather them swap them out at this time. Next engine rebuild I'll step up to 1 3/4" headers.

Re: Shorty headers

I'm actually surprised you can get that much HP out of them. Though I guess with N20 and forced induction you can do almost anything.

What are the HP gain differences between LT's and shorties?

Re: Shorty headers

i have hooker super comp shorty's, ceramic coated. ease of installation plus the off-road y & race provisions was the biggest seller for me.

Re: Shorty headers

Another option is Mac headers; they're considered mid length with 1 5/8" primaries. They also have the best spark plug clearance of any 4th Gen header I've worked on.

Cool Re: Shorty headers

I agree with OBE1 that the MAC headers have awesome plug access. I have Mac headers installed on my car and I have no problems accessing my spark plugs. I could access all my spark plugs from the top. Nice plug access and power gains can't beat that. Good luck on your choice. If you have any questions please feel free to contact me.

Yea.....you won't get 375rhwp with just he headers though, you are going to need some heads probably and at least a cam.
