Shooting Falmes?

Hey guys I do some racing on the streets and people keep tellin me that on launches i shoot flames from exhaust. I have a brand new exhaust from the headers back. I was told that a hole in the exhuast could be the problem. The car is a 95 z28 LT1. If anyone could help me figure out the problem i would appreciate it. Or tell me if it is not hurting anything and to leave it alone. Thanx

Probably just running a little rich (like most 4th gens do). Not much info to go on in your post regarding your mods.

There you go. Someone correct me if I'm wrote but, The cat is supposed to stop alot of the unburned crap from flowing down the exhust which is causeing these "flame", which is probly more like a light.

I agree. The lack of cats is probably the biggest factor.

You'll melt your bumper most likely.

Yeah do it if you want it won't mess up the chrome or melt the bumper as long as your tips are at least even with the cover. I have them, they don't exactly fit real well with the car(it certainly isn't a lead sled) but I wanted it so I got it. It's fun to play with when people are behind you. The main thing I would be worried about is the O2s because they work by cutting your ignition so all the gas goes out the back, im not sure what raw gas does for the o2s but mine are still fine I think. Finally watch your temperature because you obviously are running a little lean.

Hope that answers all your questions.

So u did it with yours?? All it took was a spark plug set up? (Iknow that includes a coil and all that)

If you are running a little rich, you could try re-locating your IAT sensor to a colder position, for example, in the plastic duct for your K&N filter, past the MAF. That will allow it to detect colder air (a more accurate reading, since heat from the throttle body or intake manifold can give false readings in the stock position). That will advance your timing, and lean out your mixture. Or, you could try making a pass with the IAT unplugged. Hope this helps your flamethrower problem.

Off Topic, I noticed you got a Moser 12 Bolt, little strange to have on amainly bolt on car, you must be planning on some thing fairly nasty.

you should get a laptop, cable, free scan or TTS Datamaster and just see whats up with the car. it is pretty easy within the first few minutes of staring at a scanner to see if your car is running rich. if youre going as hardcore as you say then these you will need eventually anyway. cable is only $65 and scanners are free. if i had to take a guess i would say your MAF is just a little off.
