Wrapped them in bubble wrap individually then put them in the same box. I stuffed some cardboard between them. They came back pretty much the same way. UPS for the shipping.

Extra cardboard, bubble wrap, peanuts, what ever you can get your hands on and do a good job.

We see lots of heads shipped in and out. Try to find a carton about 1 inch bigger in all dimensions than the head. You can cut down a larger one. Cut pieces of corregated (aka "cardboard") to line the box 2 or 3 layers deep to tightly restrain the head in all directions. I'm not a fan of bubblewrap for heavy parts because it lets them move when they are dropped, as they will be. I've seen nice (?) dings in machined surfaces or edges from bubble-wrapped heads. OK, bubble wrap on the ends to fill the carton an inch or two can work, but not on the "good surfaces".

Buy some reinforced paper tape that you have to moisten and tape all 12 edges of the carton. Also run some around the carton.

I prefer to see one head per package. I suggest shipping UPS or FedEx. Insure the head for what it would cost you to replace it quickly. UPS only gives it very special handling if it is insured for more than $5000 per package. Overinsuring doesn't help, because in case of a problem you have to prove how much you spent on the head or it's replacement to get reimbursed.

My $.02

Maybe I wasn't very clear with my post, (my mistake) and took it for granted that most guys can figure this out. I wapped my heads in a few layers of the bubble wrap and use some tape to seal them up. Then I use some some extra cardboard on the bottom, threw in the peanuts then the heads and then enought extra peanuts so every thing was packed tight. Used extra brown tape (the kind that is reinforced with thread and that you have to wet to apply. Sorry if my first post seemed half *** to you guys.

No offense intended, but foam peanuts just collapse when you drop the box with the head in it and then the head then can move around. It's eye-opening to be on the receiving end of packaging that some people think is very good when they sent it. I've seen intake manifolds thrown in a box half-again too big with a few air pillows to "protect" it. They certainly didn't.

If you get a chance, look at the packaging used by head manufactrers like Dart, AFR, TFS, Edelbrock, etc. It can be reused a number of times. Fill the empty spaces with corregated, and use the reinforced tape as you said.

Putting the head in a plastic bag before wrapping also helps. Packing bits and dust get everywhere.

Thanks for the advice. Like anything else, there's always a better way to do something, even what one might consider simple.

Ship your heads seperately.

You know what shipping guys do to heavy boxes? They beat the crap out of them.

Put the heads in a plastic bag.

Then take long piece of cardboard, about 6 feet of it and cut it to be about 2" longer on each side.

Then roll the head with the cardboard (like a burrito) and you will be a few inches of cardboard on each side.

Then fold down the ends over the heads and tape the heck out it and you will never have a problem.
