Question shifting help...

hey guys i know this belongs in the drivetrain section, but i have had it posted there for a few days with no responses, so maybe some people in LT1 tech can help: i just had a Trans Go shift kit installed on my recently rebuilt 4L60E and it says it allows me to manually downshift...well i could do that anyway correct? but from what ive learned our trannies arent fond of that except the 93's (4L60/700R4). does the shift kit change that at all? also are trans go adjustable to make firmer shifts or once they are in, its done for?

With the TransGo you can downshift into any gear at any mph, where as without it the PCM will not allow it except for when it's safe for the engine. An example; with the TransGo, you can downshift into first at 100 mph.
There are three selections for shift firmness, but you have to go into the valve body to change them. It is dependent on how many steel washers ( 1,2, or 3 ) are installed into some solenoid, don't remember which one.

Is it safe to put it on the firmness setting? i'm pretty sure my tranny shop put it on the least firm setting since it does feel much more firmer than stock except for quicker shifts. thanks for your help.

Three washers can get annoying real fast. Super firm at part throttle. I started with 3, but switched to 2 after a while. WOT shifts are still very firm with 2 washers.
