My 1994 camaro convertible is an automatic but if i try to put it in
1st gear it wont let me because the plate only goes down to 2. I was wondering if the shift panel is just restricting my shifter from going down to first or if it just isn't accessable with an automatic.

 

Yes it's just restricting you, which I believe means you have 2.73 gears (was that the condition?) My brother's friend had a Trans Am with the same restriction and the "coerced" it into 1st, and he hasn't had any problems since.
