Shifter won't lock, car keeps rolling!
ARGH! More problems, WHY ME! I have a 95 z28, it's an automatic (laugh plz) and when I put the damn thing on Park (P), it doesn't lock. I let go of the brake and it starts rolling. wtf, why won't it lock?
I put it in reverse, then put it in P again, and push up against it really hard, then I hear *click* and it locks. Did something break in there? Also, the orange idicator which tell tells you what gear you're in is off a bit too. I gotta set the e brake all the time just to make sure the damn thing don't roll and hit something...argh

Take apart the console and take a look in there. There are little "ridges" that the shifter rolls in and out of to get a desired gear from the tranny. Take a look and see if anything is in the way or obstructing it from going all the way up.
Ok, i took the center part off where the shifter is. I was looking around the ridges and it seems fine. Theres nothing blocking its way.
ITS DRIVING ME NUTS! and making me mad. When I move the shifter up, it's like you have you use force. Like, something is trying to pull it back to the bottom, in reverse or neutral.
I also took out about a few dollars worth of change in there...and theres these damn pizza hut wrappers in there that Im having trouble removing. What else do I look for see what the problem is? ANYONE, please before I drop a for sale sign on the damn car and get rid of it!

You might need to adjust the cable or it just could be that the bracket on the tranny is loose.
ok, here is a picture I'm providing. http://www.basicintellects.com/~geo/shifter1.JPG
The part that is circled is like a roller. There's something that keeps pulling it back in the other ridge thingy where the arrow is.
Also, excuse the quality of the camera, it's not an actual megapixel camera, its from my video..heh.
[Edit] Whoa shoebox. Just in the knick of time. I don't really know squat about all this, and I don't really have the stuff to lift up the car to check down there. Looks complicated...argh. Let me still try it though. Thanks
