Yes, they are zero balanced. Swap with a guy in your club and see if it is still a problem. I guess anything is possible but a HB isn't a common concern.

Well, update, now i have a new harmonic balancer and the bad vibration through the shifter and pedals is gone! But now i have a wierd one at around 4000 that gets the whole car and the pedals. Its not real bad and sometimes not noticable but do u guys think that is just the poly tranny mount or do we think it is some kind of miss! i looked and all my wires are great, i have the ovc wire kit, so maybe a fouled plug or something?

That might just be the vibe shaft. Or it could be u-joints, or poly mounts.

Good to hear that you got the big problem solved. Pretty unusual to have an h balancer go bad though.

Yeah the balancer really didnt look bad but it was wobbling on the end of the crankshaft, that kind of gave it away! The driveshaft is new and just came out of a car that had no problems, thats why i was leaning towards a miss or just the poly mount being a little rougher!

Mine died at just 45K miles.
My powersteering went bad a couple of months before and spilled oil on the balancer and I think the oil ate the rubber in the harmonic balancer.

Islandz - that is very interesting. I suppose the Power Steering Fluid (ATF) could eat rubber. I'm pulling my PS apart today for servicing and sealing. One of my lines is leaking too...
