Is there something that holds the shifter cable to the lever on the tranny or does it snap on. Mine came off and I and i cant tell if the plastic piece that connects to the lever is worn out or of there is something that holds it on

It is a ball and socket arrangement where the cable end snaps onto the ball.

 

Thanks shoebox, i guess i'll go order a new cable cause mine doesn't snap any more. It just falls back off.
