She's running a little hot

Basically driving around town the car heats up more than I think it should. It reaches about 3/4 of the way to the redline and then creeps up further quite a bit slower. I checked the coolant, it's fine. I'm thinking one of my fans may be out but I can't get a good angle to see if they're moving or not.

Are they supposed to run this hot? What can I check/do to fix this?

The camaro's run hot to keep emissions down. Mine would get almost to the redline before the fan kicked on. I just put in homemaid fan swith $10. Now it stays around 180

Would a 160* stat help at all? I'd rather not have to always hit a switch. Thanks.

It wont help if your that hot. You might just need a new stat period. Old ones get rusted shut/stuck. IE: If your coolant is 200 degrees, both a 160 and 180 stat will be fully open.

Makes sense. I'll replace the stock one, if that doens't do the trick I'll install the fan switch. Thanks for the replies.
