she's hurt

ok guys/gals i did it,i spun a rod bearing(or two) today i noticed the car had problems with power lately the last outing to the track was a 13.9@99mph the pass was smooth although the car fealt as though it had more in it but just was unable to produce the power, today i found out the hard way something is doin a tribal dance in my pan,it has not come out yet nor will i try to make it do so.now i am at a cross roads 355 or a 383 not really sure i like more cubes for sure and i do not want to take away from the emission freindly nature of my baby here is my first thought 383 w/speedpro 2491s,h-beam rods 5.7,fully balanced, comp r lifters, chromoly pushrods,lt4 hd chain,cc 305,ported lt1 heads 2.00 1.56 undercut valves, plenty bowl work,7/16 studs, guide plates,1.6 comp roller rockers,30lb svo inj,58mm tb,madz tune of course, spec 3 clutch, upgrade my t-56 to D&D standards, slp lightweight flywheel.........that is a few bucks out of my budget but not much if anyone more experienced does not like this combo step up and let me know!i want the car to be reliable and be capable of good 11s when tire is on,most of the guys i have dealt with here know i am new to lt1s from the l98 crew, any suggestions?

both ways of going about it, when assembled correctly, are very reliable and can handle tons of power. I say for naturally aspirated setups, go with the 383, for blower/turbo/nitrous applications go with the 355, forged internals can handle the power. 11's should be no problem with either setup, but you'll want to upgrade your rear to a 12 bolt or a ford 9".

What's your setup going to be?? There's no replacement for displacement, but the catch is that if you have heads that won't support a 383, and you do a 383 anyway, you'll most likely get out performed by a 355. I'd talk to whatever engine shop will be doing your new motor, give him the info he wants and listen to the recommendation.

How do you know if you have spun a bearing? Is there a noise to listen for. Because I just changed my tranny filter and fluid because my car was reving out and now that I have dropped it off the jack stands there is a wierd clicking noise and I am scared to drive her.

Re: she's hurt

oh yeah there is an audible sound coming from the pan/timing cover area and the car feels as though it has the torque of a hyundai, stick a fork in mine its DONE!!!!!!!!!!my set up is very simple the only thing i have not decided on was the cam selection but the remainder of the combo is set in stone i dont need an aggressive cam so the hotcam or the cc305 are my selection for now,as for the heads not a problem the machinist that is doing the work supplies one of the boards venders with awesome work he's kinda attatched to his flow bench if you know what i mean!!!!!!!!!!!!!! as for the rear end i am not too concerned with it if it breaks then i will put a 12bolt in no ford crap on my ride(chevy pride) the pistons have been ordered along with the rings, the motor will be pulled this weekend to see the damage!
