ShBox Website TDC

Im on my last set of springs and the wierdest thing is happening. From what i remember, I used the diagram http://shbox.com/1/cam_timing_ani.gif and they were all right to reach TDC so my valvs didn't fall in, until I got to the last cylinder. I'm at TDC on piston #8 but the dowel from the cam that links into the timing gear is facing where #3 should be TDC according to the diagram.

The crank arrow/dot should be pointed at 3 o'clock when 8 and 5 are TDC. At any rate if both valves on 8 are closed you should be good to go. If you are in doubt, don't remove the valve seal until you are certain that the valve bottoms out on top of that piston. I.e. don't let go until you are sure. JMHO

I have everything installed already, im just confused at this point i wanna make sure my timing is ok. When the crank pin that inserts into the timing gear is at 3 o'clock, cylinder number 8 is at TDC, shouldn't the pin be at 9 o'clock with cylinder #8 at TDC? Maybe I have the cylinders mixed up. Cylinder #8 is the one to the left and closest to the timing cover when facing the engine right?

Nope. If that is what you think, I am not sure how you got it done.

I'm honestly not sure either but somehow I did all the springs without dropping a valve in. Talk about luck. shoebox, your website really is an awsome guide.
